The main areas at each side are: Cala Egos and Es Fortí at one side and Cala Ferrera and Cala Gran area at the other side.

The Marina is a great place to go for a walk, a bicycle ride or to try some water sport activities.  There is a great deal of good resturants at the Marina too.

The Marina was built in 1970 on what is also called the cove of Cala Llonga. The main feature of Cala d’Or is its rocky coast line with its cliffs hidding all the different coves: Cala Gran, Cala Ferrera, Cala Esmeralda, Cala d’Or, Cala Llonga, Cala Egos and Calo des Pou. Other than Cala Llonga all the other coves became the sandy beacutiful beaches that have made this part of Mallorca so apealing.

The Cala Egos area includes Es Forti where you will find the a great spot to discover the rocky coast line of this part of Mallorca. Cala Egos has a few beaches like Calo des Pou and Cala Egos and other few spots where you can dive into the sea fromt the rocks. Cala Egos is right between the Marina and Porto Petro which is the closest village which it is also worthwile visiting.  The great thing about Porto Petro is its Marina and its location right nexto to the Mondrago Park.

Places to Visit

Most of the people will be interested in discovering other nearby areas or to even travel to the side of the island of Mallorca when visiting Cala d’Or.

For those that just want to explore the nearby areas we would advise visiting the Santanyí Market on Saturday or Wednesday morning. It is one of the most popular markets in the Island. You could stop in Porto Petro on your way there. You could even get there by bicycle if you are not confident on hiring a scooter.

If you want to find great beaches close to Cala d’Or you should visit the Mondrago Park right next to Porto Petro or to beach of Cala Sa Nau very close to Cala Ferrera and Cala Serena.

A bit further away but also whorwhile visiting is Portocolom where there are also great beaches and restaurants to discover. It has great promenade to go for a walk.

For those that want to get in shape and would like to see the views on the south east of Mallorca from a mountain view we would advise going to San Salvador on a bike ride.
